Abstract

Bone Marrow Transplant is the only possible cure till now for the genetic disorder thalassemia. Thalassemia Major can be managed by regular blood transfusions and iron chelation, but the quality of life is still poor and individuals suffering from this blood disorder are at risk of infections and other complications of iron overload which ultimately reduces the chances of survival. This article deals with the in-depth knowledge about the process of BMT for a person suffering from beta thalassemia major complication.
